So who needs an advocate?
Anyone, who because of disadvantage, or disability, finds it difficult to speak up and be heard. You may need an advocate if you have difficulty telling people what you want, or find that others don't listen to what you say. Some of the work we do includes:
- Supporting people to move from long stay hospitals into the community;
- Supporting young adults in transition;
- Supporting people with mild learning difficulties who fall outside statutory provision.
Things that people need support with can include moving house, talking to carers and professionals, speaking up in meetings, going to court, relationships and changing daytime activities.
- Why not become an advocate!!
- We always need advocates; ordinary people looking to give something back to their local community.
- All you need is the ability to listen.
