Our services...
Our advocacy services are as follows:
Long term Citizen Advocacy partnerships
This is usually long lasting advocacy which has no time limit. An ordinary citizen commits themselves to the empowerment of another. This advocacy is suitable for those who have difficulty with communication, or have no family and friends.
Crisis or Short term Advocacy
This usually means that an advocate lends support for a particular set of circumstances, for a short time, then withdraws. This work is based on the values and principles of Citizen Advocacy.
Self Advocacy
The most effective form of advocacy is when someone speaks for themselves (self-advocates). All advocates believe that everyone should be supported to self-advocate. Choices Advocacy also supports groups of people who work to promote self-advocacy. This support centres on the training of group facilitators, but also by encouraging clients to start their own “Speaking Up" groups.
Facilitating
We help to facilitate the involvement of service users in the evaluation and planning of services
People who need advocacy to support their personal aspirations, also need support when it comes to talking to agencies who provide services for them. Choices Advocacy is committed to supporting people to be consulted and to influence future planning. Advocates support groups of people to meet and take part in consultations with Statutory Agencies.
